Our Staff

We are proud to have Fear Free Certified Professionals on our team and are dedicated to caring for your pet’s emotional well-being as well as his or her physical well-being. We’d like you to know how we meet that goal.

Is your pet showing signs of bad stress and anxiety before arriving at the veterinary office? Ask us if pre-visit sedation or supplements might take the edge off and keep your pet happy and relaxed.

Would your pet be more comfortable waiting in the car rather than the waiting room? Just let us know, and we’ll be glad to accommodate you.

You’ll be brought into the exam room a few minutes before your pet will be seen because we’d like the two of you to spend some calm time together. This will allow your pet to explore the room and relax a little first.

Special calming chemical signals, known as pheromones, are provided to your pet at check-in.  Also, they are infused throughout the exam rooms. Only dogs and cats can smell them, and they find them relaxing. The music in the room is also specially created for canine and feline stress reduction.

We promise to keep our voices low and calm, and to never use force to examine, test, or treat your pet. We’ll use gentle control techniques, innovative tools, and medication when necessary to ensure your pet’s emotional health isn’t sacrificed for the sake of
medical care.

Unless it’s medically inappropriate, we’ll be giving your pet lots of treats during the visit. This is so he or she starts associating a trip to the veterinarian with good things! That will keep stress levels low. Bringing your pet into the appointment hungry can help this process along!

Some pets prefer to be examined up high, on the table, in your lap, in their carrier, or on the floor. We’ll
go where we need to go to make your pet comfortable during the exam. We’ll also use specialized distraction techniques to keep your pet focused on good experiences while we perform procedures such as injections that might cause brief stress or pain.

Questions? Just ask! We want you to be happy, too!

Paul Striegel, DVM
Veterinarian & Practice Owner

My interest in being a veterinarian started early. I was lucky to have many different pets when growing up. Biology and medicine were favorites; so it seemed natural to pursue being a veterinarian. I went to NDSU and then to Iowa State University for veterinary school. That was over 25 years ago and I still look forward to each day.

My wife Tami and I are originally from Bismarck, but have lived in Fargo over 20 years. We have two sons and a daughter who have now finished college and working on their own. Our pets are the only kids we still have at home.

I’m proud to be at Animal Health Clinic; working with good diagnostics, medicine, and surgery. Our staff and veterinarians are enthusiastic and dedicated in what they do. Our clients take great care of their pets, making this a great place to work.

Kevin Dill, DVM
Veterinarian & Practice Owner

I am originally from Chicago but consider Fargo my home, since I attended high school and undergraduate school here. My interest in being a veterinarian stemmed from the unfortunate demise of a goldfish when I was six years old. After the ceremony over the ceramic cemetery, I decided that I wanted to fix animals.

After a brief diversion considering the military and engineering, I pursued veterinary school. My long time high school sweetheart and I got married part way through veterinary school. We then went westward to Albuquerque, NM where I practiced in a private practice in the Sandia Mountains. We happened to be the hotspot of plague in animals and diagnosed many cases of the dreaded disease. After my son was born, I took over as the Chief Medical Officer at the Animal Humane Association in Albuquerque. That was a great experience and really gave me the opportunity to help the general population of animals, and in that area overpopulation was a tremendous problem. I developed one of the top shelter clinics in the country and we performed over 600 spays and neuters a month.

I have developed a solid knowledge base in the exotics through intensive study and seminar attendance. My motto is €œI'll see anything the other folks won't€ and as a result see some unusual creatures. After some bad experiences with ostriches, I have drawn the line at seeing things that outweigh me!

Dr. Dill has a Bichon/Shih tzu cross, named Marley. In his spare time he likes to fish, be at the lakes, and watch Food Network.

Katie Habgood, DVM
Veterinarian

Hi, I'm Dr. Katie! I became interested in veterinary medicine as a kid growing up on a farm outside of Sheldon, North Dakota. Right after vet school I moved to Grants Pass, in Southern Oregon, where I practiced at a small animal clinic for 2 years. I was fortunate to meet my husband Ryan there, even though I was told I moved to a retirement community!

We moved to Portland in 2008 and I started practicing at a mixed animal clinic in Sandy (near Mt. Hood). Even though I loved living in Oregon, I longed to be near my family again. I am happy to be back in the Fargo area and am excited to meet new clients and their pets!

My husband and I have three cats, Bob, Gimli, and Quinn, and a hound cross named Momo. I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, reading and following the Portland TrailBlazers.
